Man arrested for six burglaries

Burglar 02

A 32-year-old man was arrested late on Sunday on suspicion of committing six burglaries in the last three years in Nicosia.

The arrest was carried out following evidence that emerged against the suspect during police investigations into the burglaries.

Officers stopped the man, who was driving on Kennedy avenue around 10pm and conducted a search of his car.

Several pieces of jewellery were found, for which the man could not provide sufficient information, and he was arrested for illegal property possession.

Police also found several mobile phones, electrical appliances, and other valuables in the house of the man which they also suspect to have been stolen.

Further investigations revealed the suspect was staying illegally in the country, and his personal information was on the list of illegal migrants.

His 29-year-old roommate was also arrested for illegal stay in the republic, police said.
