Drunk motorist hits pole, teen caught driving

A man driving at six times over the limit hit a traffic sign in Pervolia on Saturday night after losing control of his vehicle, police said.

The man, 41, was driving along the coastal road when the incident happened, immobilising his vehicle. No one was injured.

A breathalyser test found he had 128mg of alcohol in his system rather than the 22mg legal limit.

He was taken to a police station and charged.

In a second traffic incident, a 16-year-old was caught in Kiti driving a double-cabin pick-up with test plates.

The vehicle was stopped by a traffic patrol. Police said the boy had no documentation and gave false information to officers.
