Man arrested for possession of stolen property

A 23-year-old man stopped by police in Nicosia on Sunday morning for being drunk and disorderly was arrested on suspicion of possession of stolen property after officers found two mobile phones, a laptop, and a leather wallet in his possession.

Police said that that the phones had been stolen during a burglary of a Limassol shop.

According to a police announcement, at around 11 am on Sunday, they had had arrested the young man in the Ledra Street area of Nicosia within the walls for being drunk and disorderly and possession of stolen property. In his possession police found a laptop and two mobile phones for which he could not give adequate explanation. They also found a wallet with coins, including from Russia and the UK.

The phones, worth €279, were found to have been stolen from an electronic goods shop in Limassol which was burgled on the night of September 2-3. A total of three phones worth €445 were stolen from the shop according to the complaint filed to police by the owner.

Police inquiries continue.
