Cyta restores phone services after outage (Updated)

State telecommunications authority Cyta has renewed its certification as a Communications, Navigation and Surveillance service provider. Cyta offers for students and young people

Cyta on Tuesday said it had restored phone services, and some mobile services, after they went down for around three hours earlier in the morning.

“Communication with all essential services has been restored,” Cyta said in a brief statement.

“The call centre 132 is at the disposal of our customers for any issue of technical support,” it added. “We are sorry for the inconvenience caused and thank you for your understanding and cooperation of all.

The electricity authority (EAC) and the ambulance service had earlier announced that they were having issues with the external telephone network throughout Cyprus and there were problems with incoming and outgoing calls.

Other landlines to businesses were also affected.

In the event of landline outages, the ambulance service said people should call 96490304 or 96455899 or 99573939 or 99411647 for emergencies.
