Man, 50, dies in road accident

Police on Sunday called for information that could shed light on the circumstances of a road accident the previous evening in Limassol that led to the death of 50-year-old Chrysis Sofroniou from Pachna.

The accident occurred at around 10.15 pm on the Kantou to Omodos road toward Pachna, when, under conditions that are being investigated, Sofroniou lost control of his car that crashed into and severed a tree, before falling into a ravine.

Sofroniou was trapped in the car. He was freed by the fire service and was transferred by ambulance to the Limassol general hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Police call on anyone who may have witnessed the accident or can provide any information to call the Limassol traffic police or the nearest police station.
