A 20-year-old has been arrested following a brazen attempt to steal a car in Limassol, which led to two police officers being injured in the process.

The young man sought to take off with a car of the Limassol water board which had been left unattended, but the police later encountered the vehicle and gave chase.

The high-speed chase led to the stolen car getting stuck in a field, at which point two officers approached the vehicle on foot to arrest the suspect.

The driver then reversed the car which struck the two officers, with one suffering a fracture on the right arm, and the second officer being injured on his right knee.
