The first flamingos have arrived at Larnaca’s salt lake in search of warmer climes, and food.

Numbers are expected to increase in the coming weeks, as every year thousands of flamingos flock to Cyprus for the winter.

People were reminded not to approach the birds in their natural habitat, nor fly drones above them, as they might get agitated.

The Larnaca salt lake is located just off the main road to Larnaca airport and is easily accessible from the city through a park area. There are paths, benches, and observation decks along the lake’s banks.
