Burglary suspects remanded

Famagusta district court ordered four and five-day remands for two 27-year-old suspects arrested on suspicion of a series of burglaries and theft in the district, police said on Saturday.

The first suspect, arrested on Thursday, was remanded for five days after officers found various tools which were suspected to have been stolen during a search in his house. 

During questioning, he admitted to five cases of burglary and theft, theft from cars and unlawful possession of property. 

According to Famagusta police spokesman Steve Theodoulou, the second suspect, who was arrested on Friday, denies any involvement with the crimes. He was remanded for four days on Saturday.

According to the police, the crimes were committed between February 1 and March 31 this year in Famagusta and Larnaca.
