Woman caught driving five times over alcohol limit following collision

A 31-year-old woman was caught driving in Paralimni with a blood alcohol level five times the allowed limit.

According to police, on Sunday night officers responded to an accident involving the female driver and a 34-year-old male driver, resident of Paralimni.

The 34-year-old had stopped his vehicle at a red traffic light and the 31-year-old, not noticing, collided with him, causing material damage.

An alcohol test performed on the woman showed a blood level of 94µg instead of the permissible 22µg.

The case is expected to be registered before the Famagusta District Court on Monday.
