Short staffing causes snag at Dherynia crossing for Turkish Cypriots

The “foreign ministry” in the north claimed short staffing for problems with the operation of the Dherynia check-point crossing.

According to a report by the Press and Information Office (PIO), citing Turkish Cypriot newspaper Yeni Düzen on Friday, the “foreign ministry” announced that on Thursday problems were reported at the Dherynia barricade in the direction of the government-controlled areas.

According to a briefing given to the newspaper by the “foreign ministry”, the problems arose due to a lack of staff.

The report stated that the authorities have already informed the UN peacekeeping force of the matter and are awaiting a response.

In a statement, the “foreign ministry” said that the difficulties at the crossings only concerned Turkish Cypriots and not Greek Cypriots or citizens of third countries.
