Sakra coming to Rialto Theatre

sakra

In between the series of dance acts that are part of an ongoing annual festival at Rialto Theatre, a double show on June 19 titled Sakra will be presented by choreographer Alexis Vassiliou. It continues the research he began in 2020 with the creation of the short film Egkata, attempting to reconstruct a rhythmic, acoustic and bodily ritual on the origins of language, emotions and the human experience.

The Sakra performance has as references the most identifiable melodic and rhythmic motives of Igor Stravinsky’s Rite of Spring and seeks to reconstruct through the process of abstraction and fragmentation the starting point of life.

The seven performers on stage (Eleana Alexandrou, Arianna Marcoulides, Styliana Apostolou, Andreas Patsias, Loukia Pieridou, Luiza Jaffe Misiuk Barbosa and François Delcambre) are in a constant effort to activate the basic functions of the breath, the voice and the mechanism of movement.

Suitable for an audience above 18 years old, the first performance will take place at 3pm before it is repeated on 8.30pm.
