Campaign to check safety of children’s clothes

In the run up to the start of the new school year the Consumer Protection Service announced on Monday that it will carry out inspections on the safety of children’s clothes at 170 points around the island.

The checks will be carried out between Monday and September 9, and again between October 3 and November 14.

In an announcement, the service said the presence of laces and chords on clothes represents a serious danger to children and are capable of causing series injury or even death.

It said many incidents had been recorded where the chords cause accidents after getting stuck in slides, doors, trees and other places.

More information is available on their website www.consumer.gov.cy.
