Tourism spearheads services sector recovery in second quarter

The accommodation and catering services sector showed the largest annual increase in the turnover index during the second quarter of 2022, reflecting the recovery of the tourism industry, according to a report released on Wednesday by the Cyprus Statistical Service.

According to the report, the turnover index in the second quarter of 2022 rose by 84.3 per cent in terms of the accommodation and catering services sector.

This was followed by a rise of 69.8 per cent for administrative and support services, 34.8 per cent for information and communication services, while the turnover for professional, scientific and technical activities rose by 9 per cent.

Between January and June 2022, the turnover index for the accommodation and catering services sector increased by 86.3 per cent year-on-year, while administrative and support services increased by 47 per cent.

Finally, information and communication services rose by 33.7 per cent, while professional, scientific and technical activities grew by 8.2 per cent, both year-on-year.
