Bases hold proclamation ceremony for King Charles (video)

The Sovereign Base Areas on Sunday held a proclamation ceremony for His Majesty King Charles III. The event featured a parade of military and civilian personnel from across the Bases.

Charles, 73, was officially proclaimed Britain’s new king in a colourful ceremony laden with pageantry on Saturday after the death of his mother Queen Elizabeth on Thursday at the age of 96.

Charles‘ coronation will take place at a later date – and the timing for that is not yet clear. There was a 16-month gap between Elizabeth becoming queen and her coronation in 1953.
