Archbishop Chrysostomos II remains in critical condition, his doctors said on Tuesday, as he continues to battle intestinal cancer.

His doctors, Joseph Kashios, Dimitris Papamichael, Petros Agathaggelou and Michalis Protopapas, said his condition remains critical, but he is completely aware of his surroundings.

“The prelate of the Church of Cyprus is being cared for at the archbishopric and following the recommended medical treatment,” the announcement from the doctors said.

According to the doctors, a further announcement will be released in accordance with developments in the archbishop’s health.
