Vladimiros Tziortzis wants to race with NASCAR'S big guns in the USA

Cyprus star Vladimiros Tziortzis has announced the renewal of his cooperation with Italian consortium Academy Motorsport / Alex Caffi Motorsports and his participation next season in the EURONASCAR PRO category, the highest category of the NASCAR EURO SERIES.

“The PRO category is the last step before NASCAR in the USA, the second most popular motorsport in the world after Formula 1,” explained Tziortzis and revealed that next February he will go to Florida as a guest of the organisers, where in the context of the iconic DAYTONA 500 race he will have first contacts in view of possible participation in races in the USA from 2024.

“I would like to compete in the USA, but that goes through winning the European Championship. That’s the target for 2023 but in motorsport it’s not all about the driver. First I want to be stable in every race weekend, and in the end we will see where we will be,” said Tziortzis.

“We started the past season with two wins, one of which we lost on paper. Three podiums followed and a sure win in Rome that was lost because of engine failure. Two more podiums in the Czech Republic before the accident that sent me into surgery in Belgium resulted in me falling to fifth while I was challenging for the championship title. To be able to race in Croatia and take two more podiums and take third place from last year’s champion Martin Doubek was a feat for me.”

Tziortzis thanked all the supporters he had this year, as well as the state which supported him through the Cyprus Sports Organisation. The Deputy Ministry of Tourism supported him for the first time.

Present at Monday’s news conference were the President of the Cyprus Automobile Association, Antonis Michaelidis, who awarded Tziortzis an honorary plaque, the vice-president of the Cyprus Automobile Federation, Andros Antoniou, and Konstantinos Televantos, a member of the Board of Directors of the Federation, Odysseas Patsalidis, a member of of the KOE Executive Board, Paris Avramidis, KOE official, as well as representatives of companies that supported this year’s participation such as ALCO Filters, Eneos Motor Oil and Psaltis Auto Parts, Televantos Used Trucks, Sana Hiltonia and Daytona Raceway .
