Klirou dam has been overflowing due to the recent excess rainfall, a fact that has delighted community leader Nikos Alexandrikis.

“It’s incredibly important to see and for this happen as it’s not just us depending on this but another five communities,” Alexandrikis told the Cyprus Mail.

He explained that the dam holds two million cubic metres of water and is fed by the Papoutsa and Farmakas sources which converge about one kilometre before the dam.

Construction of the dam was completed in 2007.
