Police are examining medical negligence in Larnaca related to the death of a 59-year-old woman last week, spokesman Christos Andreou said on Monday.

According to Andreou, the complaint was filed on May 3 for the death woman on April 27. The relatives of the woman said a cause of death was listed for the 59-year-old, without first having conducted a post-mortem.

Police said that because the certificate was received the family proceeded with the woman’s burial.

Following the complaint, the police exhumed the body and conducted the post-mortem, which was inconclusive. Police added that some samples were taken from the body for testing.

Andreou said that they are awaiting the results of the lab tests, adding that they will be cooperating with the health ministry as it is a medical negligence case.
