Thousands stolen in mugging

A 43-YEAR-OLD businessman from Aradippou was mugged early yesterday by two hooded men as he was coming out of his house holding a briefcase containing around €21,000 in cash and cheques.

The two assailants threatened the man with a gun, took his briefcase and then sprayed an anaesthetic spray in his face, leaving him unconscious, police said.

The 43-year-old petrol station owner later reported the incident to Aradippou police station.

His assailants are reported to be 1.80m in height, were wearing short jeans, dark-coloured shirts and trainers and were speaking Greek.
