Woman arrested for obtaining jewellery under false pretences

A 42-year-old woman was arrested in the Famagusta district for taking jewellery and other valuables at three stores under false pretences, said police.

The owner of one of the stores reported the fraud to the police on 27 March and a warrant for her arrest was issued.

According to the police spokesperson, on three different occasions the woman went to jewellery stores where under false pretences she would take the jewellery with promise of payment on a later date.

At the first store she took items worth €4,000, the second items worth €1,200, and at the third store items worth €897.
