Bar review: Flintstones bar, Kato Paphos

By Bejay Browne
If you’re up for a bit of fun then head to Flintstones bar in Kato Paphos. This is a friendly, family-run bar with a warm welcome, plentiful complimentary popcorn and reasonably priced drinks. This bar is best described as ‘different from the norm’ and if you’re prepared to go with the flow, a night here can be great fun.

The decoration is true Bedrock style – it includes a lot of stone and stone effects, Flintstones memorabilia and life sized replicas of the characters from the popular cartoons and movies from which the venue takes its name.

Set just off Ayiou Antoniou street – Bar Street – this is much more than a themed pub and the ability of the staff to remember customers individually each time they visit makes it a popular choice with holidaymakers and local, mainly expat, residents.

This bar is a stalwart of Paphos nightlife and has been operating for more than 25 years and in that time not much has changed. As it is still popular, they must be doing something right and customers who love it, say a visit to Flintstones is like ‘catching up with old friends’.
Open from around 5.30pm until late, this bar usually closes for the winter season and opens again March/April. There is free Wi-Fi and major sporting events are shown on large TV screens.

Cocktails are served with a Yabadabba do! and staff blow on a Conch shell to hail their arrival, and they are tasty and surprisingly good.
This bar is extremely popular with holidaymakers who return year after year, and they often spend most of their vacation nights at the venue. Try the Flintstones Special, mojitos or the brandy sours.

If you don’t think you can manage an entire night here, it’s also a good place for a pre/post dinner drink or cocktail. They are also kid friendly and a good place to visit in large groups looking for a bit of fun. It is also a popular venue for hen parties
This bar is a great example of friendly Cypriot service and warm hospitality. If you’re in the area and feel like a fun night out, give it a try.
