Card scheme for unlimited sunbed use at Napa beaches

A new card scheme will allow couples to use two sun beds and an umbrella for as many times as they like all year round at any Ayia Napa beach with a €50 charge.

“We have already began the process on issuing the specific card which will be personalised with photographs so they can be checked by beach staff and avoid different people using the same card,” mayor Yiannis Karousos told the Cyprus News Agency.

Expected to come into force by July 1, the decision by the city council was taken to assist the thousands of visitors that visit the Napa beaches. About 3,500 new beds and umbrellas of the same colour were bought and have already been installed.

“We have the first positive comments from people and travel agents for the uniformity (of the sun beds and umbrellas) and the fact that there are comfortable places for people,” Karousos said.

He stipulated a few more days were needed to get the last of them set up on the beaches while for people who do not have a card, the set price is €2.50 for a bed and €2.50  for an umbrella.
