Paphos man arrested for threatening his mother-in-law with shot gun

A 37-year-old man from Paphos has been arrested after allegedly threatening his mother-in-law with a shotgun and is facing charges including domestic violence and committing a felony.

According to the Cyprus News Agency, his 55-year-old mother in law, a hotel employee from Anarita realised she was being tailed by a car on Athens Avenue and that her son-in-law and daughter were in the vehicle.

They allegedly made rude hand gestures towards her from the car, and at one point on the Konion roundabout, she said she saw her son-in-law through the rear view mirror aiming a shotgun in her direction.

She proceeded to the Limassol-Paphos highway to put some distance between them, though it is unclear whether they went continued tailing her from afar. After the woman reported the incident to police, the son-in-law was arrested, and two shotguns were found in his home.

Police said they could not give out any details as the case involved family violence.
