Nepalese man hospitalised after bus-stop beating

A 24-year-old man was arrested on Saturday in connection with the alleged attempted murder of another man, aged 30 from Nepal while he was at a bus stop in Statos, Paphos.

The suspect, from Paphos, stopped the victim from running away after he grabbed him and repeatedly beat him.

The 30-year-old is now in the local general hospital emergency department with serious injuries to his head.  An on-duty doctor said he was in serious condition and is set to be transferred to the Nicosia General hospital.

According to Paphos police spokesman Nicos Tsiapis, the incident took place at around 10am. He said the perpetrator had fled but was later caught and arrested.

Police is investigating the cause of the argument and whether the two had differences.
