POLICE said on Friday they were looking into an Aradippou arson attack on a car that turned out to have been recently reported as stolen.

“It was around 7.30 yesterday (Thursday) afternoon that a passer by spotted a car on fire in an open space in the Aradippou area and informed us,” the police said.

“Officers from Aradippou station went to the area where they found the car. Members of the fire service put out the fire, which completely destroyed the car.”

Police said that during investigations that followed it became clear the fire was set on purpose. Further inquiries revealed that the vehicle was reported stolen last Sunday, while the number plates of the car were also reported stolen on November 5.

Aradippou police are continuing investigations.
