Southern Cameroon community in Cyprus to hold demonstration at Ledra Palace

The Southern Cameroon community in Cyprus is holding a peaceful demonstration on Friday to remind the United Nations of the 1961 vote of its General Assembly that favours the independence of the territory, but which was ignored, organisers said.

The group said that the demonstration aims at “reminding the United Nations of the vote that conducted in favour of the independence of our country, Southern Cameroons, on the 21st of April, 1961 which has not been taken into consideration”.

The demonstration is to begin from Solomou Square (outside former Holiday Inn) at 8am and end at the UN-controlled Ledra Palace hotel in the Nicosia buffer zone at noon.
