Cyprus Young Contemporaries 2019

Young talent comes under the spotlight in the 2019 Cyprus Young Contemporaries exhibition, this year’s Fine Arts Degree show by students from the University of Nicosia being hosted at Point Centre for Contemporary Art.

Opening today, June 13, and running until the 22nd of the month, the exhibition consists of a range of works by young artists who, through a variety of visual art disciplines and media, both traditional and new, are exploring their particular ways of seeing and finding their own language of expression.

Head down to explore the artistic creations of Phivi Antoniou, Bugche Bozkurt, Lakis Christofidis, Andreas Christou, Leonidas Constantis, Elisha Cox, Chimezuteh Ejikeme-Micah,
Anna Kozyreva, Evangelia Mela, Katerina Paisi, Stavroula Tsamourlidou.

If you can’t make tonight’s opening, there are two more events related to the students’ art show coming up. Tomorrow, June 14, faculty members from the Fine Arts programme will give presentations in English at the Centre on various topics. These include ‘VHS Cyprus: A Lost Archive’ by Constantinos Taliotis, ‘Autotopography’ by Haris Pelapaisiotis, ‘The Time of Art in Cyprus’ by Dr Elena Parpa, and ‘Visualising Feminism’ by Dr Evi Tselika.

The following day, Andreas Christou will hold a ‘painting through seeing’ workshop for free, with all materials provided. This event will be in Greek and, if you’re interested in participating, contact 22-662053 or 99-907706.
