The beginner’s guide to fermenting foods at home

Not so long ago, people regularly made, kept and consumed fermented food, using the process as a way of preserving edibles before refrigeration was available.

Fermented foods are actually rich in probiotic bacteria, so by consuming them, you add beneficial bacteria and enzymes to your intestinal flora, increase the health of your gut microbiome and digestive system and enhance your immune system.

If you have never tried fermenting foodstuffs for yourself, this video walks you step by step through the basics, letting you make your own, delicious kimchi, kvass, sriracha and, of course, sauerkraut.
