Coronavirus: Daily case number falls into double figures (updated)

The health ministry on Tuesday announced 95 new coronavirus cases were detected from 25,427 tests.

No deaths were announced.

The positivity rate is now at 0.37 per cent.

There are 94 patients with coronavirus in state hospitals, 35 of whom are in serious condition, and 23 of which are intubated.

Of the 25,427 tests carried out 1,559 were PCR and 23,868 rapid tests.

Of the 95 new cases, 24 concern people found positive through contact tracing, six people who got tested privately and 12 were among samples processed in state hospitals’ labs.

Another seven cases were found from rapid tests conducted at private labs and 46 cases were among the rapid tests available for the wider population.

No positive cases were detected in the Paphos district among the 1,793 rapid tests carried out there, while seven cases were found in Nicosia with a positivity rate of 0.08 per cent. In Limassol, 35 cases were found (0.55 per cent), three in Larnaca (0.08 per cent) and one in the Famagusta district (0.10 per cent).

As regards deaths from Covid-19, the number remains at 214: 145 men and 69 women, with average age 79 years.

The total number of cases is now 31,959.
