The boy who dreams of becoming a DJ

In this video we get a beautiful portrait of the early stirrings of a big dream.

We meet Benoit, a 10-year-old boy living in rural northwest France with his family, who is passionate about DJing.

Asking his father whether his interest could turn into work later on, he is told, yes, but… as it’s not a ‘real profession’, Benoit would have to find a different job first, before becoming a professional disk jockey.

But Benoit doesn’t mind. He believes music has the power to relax and calm people – especially sad people, and it makes him feel peaceful and free. He knows he will find a way to becoming a DJ eventually. Perhaps, to support himself, he’ll work as a horticulturalist like his mother for a while, or… anyway, he’ll figure something out.

For now, he has a big dream, and that’s all that matters.
