All appointment slots for vaccinations which were made available for people aged 39 and 40 have ran out, but more will be added for all districts within a few minutes, the health ministry said on Thursday morning.

The portal opened at 7.30am and will remain open until 8pm.

Meanwhile, Deputy Minister of Research, Innovation and Digital Policy Kyriakos Kokkinos said the vaccination portal did not crash earlier on Thursday, but was slow due to overload by users.

“The portal works just fine. It is slow for the first 5-10 minutes,” Kokkinos said. “And citizens are complaining that they can not be served.”

He added the portal worked normally during its first minutes of operation.

“Due to overload, some citizens may have experienced that the system was slow and they could not be serviced immediately, but it was a matter of half or a minute for the system to serve them.”

On Friday those aged 68, 69 and 70 who missed their previous chance will be able to book a vaccine appointment from 7.30 in the morning to 8 at night.

On Tuesday, May 4 the portal will be open for those aged 37 and 38, from 7.30am until 8pm.

Vaccines will be administered at vaccination centres islandwide with all available formulas.
