Coronavirus: One death, 333 new cases (Updated)

The health ministry announced one death and 333 cases of Covid-19 on Monday.

A 71-year-old man passed away at Limassol general hospital, raising total deaths to 484, of which 311 were men and 173 women.

There are 196 people being treated for coronavirus in hospitals, 75 of whom are in serious condition. Of the 75 patients,38 are intubated, six are in ICU without a ventilator and 31 in the High Dependency Unit.

The ministry specified that 82.66 per cent of patients are unvaccinated.

A total of 51,999 PCR and rapid antigen tests were carried out today, with a positivity rate of 0.64 per cent.

Of the 51,999 tests, 6,258 were PCR and 45,741 rapid tests.

The majority, 153 of the 333 cases came from rapid tests performed at private labs and pharmacies, with 78 more found through rapid testing performed at health ministry testing sites.

Sixty-six cases came from 2,611 samples taken through private initiative, while 154 samples taken through contacts of already confirmed cases turned up 20 positives.

Eleven positives came from 262 samples processed by hospital labs, while 121 samples taken through GP referrals yielded three positives.

In addition, 3,110 samples were taken at airports with two positives.

The total number of coronavirus cases recorded to date is 111,666.
