Coronavirus: No deaths, 84 new cases on Saturday (Updated)

The health ministry on Saturday announced 84 new Covid-19 cases.

No deaths were recorded.

The new cases were out of 55,076 PCR and rapid tests with a positivity rate of 0.15 per cent.

There are 73 patients with Covid-19 in hospital, 31 of whom are in serious condition, including 15 who are intubated. In total 60.5 per cent of patients with Covid-19 who are hospitalised are not vaccinated.

Two cases were among passengers at the Larnaca and Paphos airports.

The rest concern eight people who got PCR tests privately, 49 who got rapid tests privately, and five samples processed in state hospitals’ labs.

Another 20 were among the rapid tests carried out in all districts on behalf of the health ministry. These concern seven cases detected in Nicosia among 5,332 tests, two in Limassol (2,186), six in Larnaca (2,267), three in Paphos (1,187) and two in the Famagusta district (876).

The total number of cases recorded so far is 120,415.

The number of deaths from Covid-19 is at 554: 351 men and 203 women with an average age of 76.4 years.
