Snowman musical to entertain young audiences

It may just be the mountains that have snow but the festive atmosphere is coming to Limassol and Nicosia with a holiday musical for young audiences. My Snowman is a collaboration between the Cyprus Symphony Orchestra Foundation and Silver Spotlight Productions and an original fully staged holiday musical created by Alex Panayi, Stavros Stavrou and Katerina Christofidou.

On December 18 and 19, children and families will get to see a snowman come to life, creating a heart-warming friendship with a little girl on Christmas Eve.

“This initiative taken by the foundation,” say the organisers, “establishes the Cyprus Symphony Orchestra, but also Silver Spotlight Productions, as pioneers in quality entertainment for young audiences and their families. The successful musical, created and performed by 100 per cent Cypriot talent, is taking on new life and a completely new musical direction with brand new arrangements for symphony orchestra by the Cypriot composer Giorgos Karvellos.”

My Snowman promises audiences a journey into friendship, loss and the power of love in the magical setting of a Christmas wonderland. The story unfolds on the night before Christmas. While the whole town is asleep, a little girl is sad, wide awake and all alone in her room looking out the window hoping for a miracle. She wishes that her Snowman would come alive and be her best friend, the friend she so desperately needs.

After its Limassol premiere, the musical will travel to Nicosia Municipal Theatre for three performances on December 22 and 23. “This Christmas,” add organisers, “My Snowman brings the spirit of Broadway to Cyprus. The revival boasts three new songs alongside its all-time favourites and a colourful cast under the direction of Marios Kakoullis and the baton of maestro Petros Stylianou.”
