Coronavirus: Six businesses, 18 individuals fined for breaking decrees

violations

A total of 2,952 checks were carried out by the Police in the last 24 hours as part of the checks to ensure compliance with measures against the coronavirus, during which 18 people and six businesses were fined for violating Covid rules.

Speaking to the Cyprus News Agency, police said that the fines issued to managers concerned a cafeteria in Nicosia where the person responsible did not have a SafePass and two cafeterias in Limassol – in one the owner did not have a SafePass and in the second customers did not. A Larnaca establishment was fined for allowing more than the permitted number of clients while in Paphos, an employee did not have a SafePass.

According to the breakdown, in Nicosia, 1,452 inspections were carried out and one individual and an establishment manager were reported. In Larnaca, 482 inspections were carried out, where two establishments and six people were fined for not following the measures.

In Limassol after 215 checks, two establishments and eight members of the public were fined while in Paphos one business manager and a member of the public were reported after 136 checks. There were 390 checks in the Famagusta district resulting in two individuals being reported. No violations were reported in the Morphou area after 196 checks.

The port police and traffic police carried out 12 and 69 checks respectively. There were no violations.
