Pensioner hit by car in serious condition

A 76-year-old man was hospitalised in serious condition late on Wednesday after he was hit by a car while crossing the road in Peyia.

Paphos CID chief and police spokesman Michalis Nicolaou said the car heading from Ayios Georgios Peyias to Peyia around 5.45pm, under conditions that are being investigated, hit the pensioner who was crossing the road.

An ambulance was called to the scene and the injured pensioner was transferred to the accident and emergency department of Paphos general hospital.

On-duty doctors described his condition as serious as the man remains treated at the state hospital.
