A Nicosia music event celebrates Europe Day

1

As Europe Day approaches on May 9 celebrating peace and unity, a collaborative music event in Nicosia will mark the occasion. On May 13 the Home for Cooperation will fill with live music, dancing, jamming and tasty food, gathering musicians and audiences from all communities of the island. The It’s All About Making Music Together event will be an evening of music where the floor will be open to everyone.

“On the occasion of Europe Day,” say organisers, “we are celebrating unity through music – and what better way than featuring J.A.M. J.A.M. is a series of jamming sessions that take place every month at a different location in Nicosia, aiming towards good quality improvisational music on a regular basis while promoting the work of local artists. The performers are offered a stage to express and communicate through the language of music without borders. So, on Saturday the 13th of May, J.A.M. will take the stage to kick off the event and all you need to do is to enjoy, sing along, dance and bring your instrument to join the party!”

Organised by Europe Direct Ledra in collaboration with the Home for Cooperation and The Home Cafe, along with local musicians, the event will also host other activities which will be announced soon. “You’ll also have the chance to learn more about the work of Europe Direct Ledra and the Europe Direct network,” add organisers and, “contribute to an interactive opinion board to share your thoughts and ideas on how we can support emerging and established musicians alike, and the music scene in Cyprus general. This way, you can help us design new activities and projects responding to your needs!”
