The Career Success Centre at the University of Nicosia recently concluded a series of highly successful career exhibitions, focusing on the fields of business administration, health sciences, accounting, informatics, and new technologies, with numerous companies taking part.

According to an announcement by the university, the events were designed to provide students and graduates with enhanced access to the local and international job market, as well as foster connections with industry professionals, and proved to be an invaluable resource for attendants.

A total of 75 companies actively participated in the exhibitions, offering students valuable insights into employment opportunities within their respective fields.

Moreover, seasoned career advisors and company executives were on hand to guide attendees on practical matters related to job market navigation, seamless integration, and the availability of internships and employment prospects.

Additionally, business representatives shed light on the nature of work and the essential skills required across various sectors.

Participants had the unique opportunity to familiarise themselves with leading companies in their areas of interest, engage in networking activities with industry professionals, explore potential employment avenues, gain valuable industry insights, submit their resumes, and even participate in on-site interviews for prospective collaborations.

Expressing her satisfaction with the outcome of the exhibitions, Maria Siopacha, Director of the Career Success Centre at the University of Nicosia, explained that “our aim is to instil a culture among our student community that encourages professional experience and nurtures familiarity with the job market while they are still studying”.

“This culture enables students to practically apply their academic knowledge, preparing them for a seamless transition into the job market and equipping them with the tools needed to effectively respond to its demands,” Siopacha added.

“The targeted approach we adopted for the exhibitions, organised according to market sectors, has proven to be immensely fruitful and beneficial for both our students and the participating companies, who have provided exceptional feedback on the success of these events,” she concluded.

Several participating companies took to professional networking platform LinkedIn to express their positive experiences.

Zoe Alexandrou, Amdocs Talent Acquisition Lead, commended the event, stating that “we were impressed by the quality of the event, the calibre of attending students, and the overall professionalism exhibited by the career services team at the University”.

“We had the opportunity to connect with many talented and dynamic students from various specialisations, and we were honoured by their evident interest in our company and the opportunities we have to offer,” she added.

Financial company Deriv, which has offices in Nicosia, shared a similar sentiment in their post, saying that “we engaged with intelligent and enthusiastic students with whom we shared information about career opportunities at our company”.

“We thank the University of Nicosia for organising such a fantastic event,” they added.

The university explained that the career exhibitions organised by the Career Success Centre are part of a comprehensive framework of activities aimed at familiarising students and graduates with the job market, facilitating their smooth integration, strengthening their professional networks, and ultimately enhancing their employability.

These career exhibitions are open not only to students and graduates of the University of Nicosia but also to members of the public who are keen on exploring job opportunities and establishing connections within the business community.
