Met office issues yellow warning for Sunday

The meteorological office issued a yellow warning for isolated thunderstorms expected on Sunday.

According to the warning, released on Saturday afternoon, the alert will be in effect from 10am on Sunday until 5pm later that day.

The service said that it expects isolated thunderstorms to affect the island.

Rain intensity locally is expected to exceed 35 millilitres per hour, while there is a possibility of small-sized hail.

Finally, very strong to severe, occasionally gale-force winds are expected to impact coastal and mountainous areas predominantly.
