International Pharos Chamber Music Festival returns for 20th time

Notwithstanding the global gloom caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, and despite a painful decision last year to postpone the event, the 20th International Pharos Chamber Music Festival will return this year, taking place from May 28 until June 5.

Over its 20-year run the festival has invited some of the world’s most remarkable soloists to Cyprus for concerts at the courtyard of the Royal Manor House in Kouklia and the foundation’s open-air venue, The Olive Grove, in Delikipos.

“We are confident that our audience, both from Cyprus and abroad, will be thrilled to see the incredible list of musicians who are joining us for this unique celebration, and greatly inspired by the unique programme we have created for each day,” says the Pharos Arts Foundation.

Recognised as one of Europe’s leading music festivals and acknowledged all over the world as Cyprus’ most important annual classical music event, the International Pharos Chamber Music Festival has gained a reputation for the quality of its concerts and its enchanting atmosphere and settings.

It was the first festival of chamber music held in Cyprus, and so far it has hosted hundreds of concerts with a great number of world-renowned soloists, chamber ensembles and orchestras, creating an unprecedented relationship with thousands of audience members from all over the globe, who visit the island to be part of this uplifting musical experience. The International Pharos Chamber Music Festival also maintains a strong tradition of community service, giving the unique opportunity to students in Cyprus to benefit through its educational and outreach activities for free.

The 2021 edition welcomes 16 artists who will perform from May 28 to June 5. They are pianists, violinists, cellists, clarinet and viola musicians who will stage of total of seven concerts.

“Our audience’s comfort and safety are of utmost priority for us,” conclude the organisers. The venues will be adjusted to comply with all the safety measures, and according to the guidelines issued by the ministry of health. All concerts will take place in the open air and will start at 8pm.”
