How to treat a poisoned dog: warning signs and responses

Every pet deserves a loving and respectful home: please only consider acquiring a pet if you will be able to take care of its long-term needs. Also, consider choosing your animal companion from a shelter, where there are so many wonderful furry friends who need a forever home.

The modern world is home to many chemicals, airborne substances, drugs and plants that can be extremely poisonous to a dog when ingested, inhaled or even just upon contact with its skin.

In this video, veterinarian Dr. Pieter de Villiers walks us through the common household products that could be poisonous to our pooches, the warning signs that they may have been poisoned and the immediate care and prevention methods that could potentially save our furry companion’s life.

It goes without saying that the measures suggested are only temporary steps to take while getting our dog to the vet as quickly as we are able.
