A 29-year-old man who was refusing to show a SafePass at a customer service centre of the electricity authority in Paphos, was arrested, police said on Thursday.

The authorities said they received a complaint about a customer who had gone to the EAC offices on Wednesday but was refusing to adhere to coronavirus protocols.

Officers arrived at the customer service centre and found he was not abiding by social distancing rules and was not wearing his face mask properly. He had also refused to provide the establishment with a SafePass.

The man was arrested after he refused to give his personal details to the police and started causing disturbance in a public place.

He was charged in writing and released pending his court appearance.
