Driver who hit two pedestrians wanted

Police are looking for a male driver who hit two pedestrians, one of whom is hospitalised in serious condition, and abandoned the scene of the accident late on Thursday in Paphos.

According to police, the accident took place around 7pm on Eleftheriou Venizelou avenue when the unidentified driver, under conditions that are being investigated, hit two pedestrians, aged 42 and 29, who were crossing the street.

The man drove off, without providing help to the two injured men, police said.

Authorities did not specify whether the accident occurred at a pedestrian crossing.

Officers arrived at the scene and the two were transferred via ambulance to Paphos general hospital. Doctors diagnosed the 29-year-old with a nose and lung fracture and he was kept for further treatment. His condition was described as serious but stable by his doctors.

The 42-year-old man received first aid for some minor injuries and was released.

Traffic police are investigating the accident as a case of causing a car accident and a hit-and-run.
