Coronavirus: Seven businesses, 16 individuals fined

Seven businesses and 16 individuals were fined for violating coronavirus protocols as part of 3,688 nationwide checks carried out between 6am on Friday and 6am on Saturday, police said.

A police spokesperson said that most violations had to do with people not wearing masks in public spaces and shops.

The majority of checks, 1,591, were carried out in Nicosia, with one individual and one business owner fined.

Paphos was next with 576 checks, out of which two individuals and six businesses were fined.

In Famagusta, 520 checks resulted in three individuals fined while in Larnaca, three more were fined from 500 checks.

Seven people were fined out of 199 checks in Limassol, and lastly 79 checks were carried out in Morphou with no charges.

Traffic and maritime police carried out 204 checks and 19 checks respectively, without any bookings.
