Fourth arrest for burglary in Famagusta

A 20-year-old man was remanded for two days on Sunday after police made a further arrest after the home of a 77-year-old was burglarised in the Famagusta district, bringing the total number to four.

After an arrest warrant was issued against him, a 20-year-old man was arrested at 11.50 on Saturday night.

The house was broken into on June 16.

On Wednesday 24-year-old was arrested followed by a 31-year-old and another 20-year-old on Friday. They have all been remanded in police custody until Monday.

According to the 77-year-old, while she was asleep in her house she was woken up by a noise and saw two strangers in the house. She locked the bedroom door but she reported it was broken down and she was attacked.

They then stole various items of jewellery.
