Coronavirus: 22 fines after 3,468 checks

Police issued 22 fines for breaches of coronavirus measures after 3,468 checks in the last 24 hours in the government-controlled areas.

The checks were carried out between 6am on Friday and 6am on Saturday.

Officers in the capital conducted 1,550 inspections and booked six individuals for violating the measures.

Three people were booked in Limassol, as well as one business after 318 checks, while one person and one establishment were also booked in Larnaca after 550 checks.

Paphos officers carried out 232 checks and booked four businesses and two people, while Famagusta officers booked four people after 469 inspections.

Checks were also carried out by Morphou officers, traffic, marine and port police without any bookings.

Violations include failure to wear a facemask and carry a SafePass among others.
