The death of an eight-year-old girl in the north on Wednesday is believed to be due to Covid-19 complications but the exact cause is to be determined after specialised tests, it was announced on Thursday.

The eight-year-old’s post-mortem revealed fluid around the heart, abdomen and lungs. She was admitted to hospital on Tuesday with nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain and, after she tested positive for Covid-19 she was transferred to the pandemic hospital where she was intubated. Despite all efforts, she passed away on Wednesday afternoon.

The ‘health ministry’ announced on Thursday the post-mortem results saying it is believed the girl died due to Covid-19 complications. However, the exact cause of death will be revealed after more specialised tests, it added.
