Police on Saturday afternoon warned drivers of road closures on the Nicosia-Larnaca motorway due to a protest by parents against the new coronavirus restrictions in primary schools.

According to the announcement issued at 3pm, drivers heading from Nicosia to Larnaca will be diverted at Athienou junction towards the old Nicosia-Larnaca road.

Those travelling from Larnaca to Nicosia will be diverted at Aradipou exit towards the old Larnaca-Nicosia road.

Drivers heading from Kalo Chorio to Nicosia will also be diverted at Aradipou exit, police said.

Two weeks ago on Saturday, demonstrating parents closed off the same road for three hours calling for the abolition of the new measures that include obligatory use of masks for children aged six and over and weekly coronavirus testing.
