Police on Thursday said they were looking for a 40-year-old man from Paphos who was accused of assaulting and injuring a neighbour, 53, after the latter complained about his dog roaming the area unattended.

The incident occurred on Wednesday morning in Peyia, Paphos police deputy chief, Michalis Ioannou told the Cyprus News Agency.

The 53-year-old’s mother told police that the neighbour’s dog went into their yard while both were outside, and she had called the owner to go collect his pet.

When the 40-year-old went there the 53-year-old asked him to be more diligent as regards his dog.

The 40-year-old allegedly pushed the 53-year-old onto a fence causing it to collapse, with the man falling from a height of 1.5-metres.

He was taken to Paphos general hospital where he was diagnosed with broken ribs and fractures to his shoulder and was kept for further treatment.

Police have issued an arrest warrant on the 40-year-old who is now being sought.
