Splash of colour coming to six locations in Polis Chrysochous

Graffiti murals will add a splash of colour to six locations in Polis Chrysochous as part of the 7th Fish Festival taking place on Saturday.

A team of artists from Cyprus and abroad have already started work on livening up the city with their street art under the slogan From Our Sea Depths to Your Plate.

Artist Edmon, Christos Kyriakou, said his could be called the biggest underwater-themed graffiti art in Cyprus. This is the first time local Cypriot artists have the opportunity to be showcased, he said.

Graffiti artist Giorgos Skourlis, tag name Atek, will decorate the entrance to Polis Chrysochous near the police station, while the wall opposite the Hellenic Bank will be embellished by artist Danae Laou.

The artist Magos will brighten up the wall of the building which houses the Citizens Service Centre, artist Dieci will work on the wall of the parking lot near Moustakallis restaurant, and Kyriakou, tag name Edmon, will decorate the wall to Latchi in Prodromi approaching the Makryloukas kiosk.

Rafael Stavrinou will add his artistic flair to the wall near the old market behind the post office and a creation based on the theme of goddess Aphrodite will be presented by the artist Ipheno.

In addition to the artists-at-work, there will be various activities for young and old, educational booths, as well as a sampling of fresh local seafood.

The progress of the artists can be viewed online daily on the monoxroma_urbanshop page on Instagram and on the Facebook page of the Polis Chrysochous municipality, until April 30.

On Saturday the municipality will hold an awards ceremony from 12pm to 3pm and offer an opportunity for children to explore graffiti art guided by the artists.
